Let’s chat about how to support a small business. Sound good?
This is a topic that is near and dear to my heart!
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: when you shop small – whether from a local business, Etsy shop, social seller, or family owned business, you are supporting someone’s dream.
I grew up watching my dad own and work his small practice and I know first-hand how hard right after the holidays can be. January is often a hard month for many businesses because consumers are ‘spent’ from the holiday season, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still support them in a bunch of different ways!
Learning how to support a small business is so super important. So I wanted to shed light on 6 ways you can help today.
How To Support A Small Business In 6 Steps:
1️⃣𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸. This one is huge! Local businesses especially appreciate and depend on yelp/google reviews. It takes a couple of minutes and can leave a great impact! This helps provide social proof!
2️⃣𝘛𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺. Tag them on a post you love, click the arrow to send it on over, or mention it in conversation over lunch!
3️⃣𝘍𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢!
4️⃣𝘚𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘶𝘱 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘯𝘦𝘸𝘴𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳. If they have a newsletter or email, chances are they have put so much thought, time, and effort that goes into it! I’ve found most newsletters are educational and provide the consumer with lots of value.
5️⃣𝘓𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘴. Stop and double tap as you scroll. Takes one second and can help boost their post in the algorithm so other people see their content and posts as well.🤸🏼♀️
6️⃣ 𝘎𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘢 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘴 OR just share their content (make sure when you mention them in a post or story you tag them!)
However you choose to support a small business, a new entrepreneurs and small business owners, keep spreading the love! I promise it’ll not only make their day but it makes a huge difference in their overall biz.
