A guest bedroom is more than just a spare room; it’s an opportunity to create a warm, inviting space that makes visitors feel comfortable and cherished. Whether preparing for family and friends or moving into your new house (like me), thoughtful styling can transform your guest bedroom into a haven of relaxation and comfort. In a recent blog post, I shared my current thoughts, ideas, and recent favorite styling inspo for a guest bedroom, and now it’s time to share my actual plan for ours! This blog post will cover how we are planning to style, specific items, and some of the processes to create our welcoming dream of a guest bedroom.
The Game Plan:
When it came to making the styling plan for the guest bedroom, I wanted to channel a traditional look and design with a cozy feel. As mentioned in my previous blog, I love rooms with touches of moody elements, as they bring so much character to a space. Working with Irina of Mint & Pine Design to source products in the room was an awesome and exciting experience. We also decided that we are going to add a feature accent wall behind the bed. With that, below is a mock-up plan and layout of the room with all the design elements and products.
The Breakdown:
As you begin to style and pull items for a space it can be overwhelming, so what I recommend and how I started with was the base of the room; the bed, rug, chair, and bedside tables. I decided to bring in the moody accents of the bed frame and accent chair as they would draw attention but also be styled with other elements so they wouldn’t be overbearing. We ended up with the beautiful Chisa Upholstered Bed and Veron Upholstered Barrel Accent Chair. Both have a modern, clean-cut design, perfect for the room’s base. Plus, that olive color and velvet material on the chair add that hint of coziness that makes you want to curl up with a good book. My favorite feeling!
Then, to compliment and contract those darker aspects, I made sure to go with a neutral, lighter rug and bedside table. A bright, light-toned rug can transform a bedroom, making it appear more spacious, inviting, and aesthetically pleasing. Additionally, the visual contrast it provides against darker or contrasting bedroom elements can evoke a sense of harmony and balance, making the bedroom look good and harmoniously composed. Whether it’s a simple shag rug or an intricately patterned one, the transformative power of a light-toned rug is undeniable, making it a versatile and essential element in bedroom design. This Jean Stoffer x Lolou Katherine Area Rug was my pick for those elements. Additionally, pairing a simplistic and neutral bedside table will do similar things for the room and tie the base together seamlessly. Once I came across this Amelia Chest, I fell in love with the traditional and classic style it has through the washed alabaster finish and antique brass knobs. I knew it would this piece would help complete the room and be a key component to My Dream Guest Bedroom: The Styling Plan.
Now that we have My Dream Guest Bedroom: The Styling Plan room’s base, it was time for the extra fun part, the decor. This is where you can truly express your personality and aesthetic, making your quest bedroom one of your dreams. My plan has tons of detail and decor aspects, but I wanted to highlight my favorite ones: the floor-length mirror, artwork, and throw pillows. For my plan, I went with this Full Length Mirror because it’s a striking yet versatile piece of decor that adds a touch of sophistication and drama to the room. The black frame surrounding the mirror complements various interior design styles and adds a bold and elegant contrast to the reflective surface. Finding the artwork piece, I wanted to display in the room was a process as there are so many options out there, but I ended up landing on the Sylvie 869 Going in Circles Framed Canvas by Tejiu Reval, and I am pleased about how it turned out. It brings more modern sophistication through the charming abstract print and sleek frame. Lastly, looking at throw pillows, I selected these Aspen Floral Block Print Pillow Covers. Throw pillows may seem like small and insignificant additions to a room’s decor, but their importance in interior design should not be underestimated. These decorative pillow covers play a crucial role in enhancing this room’s overall aesthetic and comfort.
There you have it, our dream guest bedroom! Styling this room was such a fun project. These phenomenal items provide versatility and impact on aesthetics and comfort, allowing you to infuse your style and create that welcoming and visually appealing space. I look forward to putting the room together and will make sure to share it with everyone to see the final result. All in all, I hope that this My Dream Guest Bedroom: The Styling Plan brought you some inspiration for your home styling endeavors!
