Ready, Set, Spring! The chill of winter is fading, and the days are growing longer, which means the spring season is right around the corner. Spring is a season that catches up to you quickly and leaves you off guard, but not this year! It’s time to shake off the cobwebs and welcome the warmth of spring. Preparing your home for the change in seasons is a practical necessity and an opportunity to breathe new life into your living space. Here is my Complete Guide to Prepping Your Home for Spring, full of essential tips, tricks, and items to help you prepare your home for springtime bliss.
Clean Slate
Before being able to dive into all things spring, it’s crucial to start with a clean slate. Doing one big decluttering, organizing, and cleaning session will set your home and you up for a successful new season. As I have mentioned, I like to tackle one room at a time, clearing the clutter and doing a quick but thorough surface scrub. For us, this look consists of mopping the walls and floors, cleaning baseboards, changing vents, vacuuming the mattresses, and dusting the fans. Regarding my deep cleans, I couldn’t live without this Miele Classic C1 Turbo Team Bagged Canister Vacuum. It’s powerful, portable, and works on all surfaces! I highly recommend investing in this vacuum. I also love these little dusters from Amazon!
After your deep cleaning, taking advantage of the state of cleanliness is essential to declutter and organize your home. This step will help your home stay clean longer! For spring, the main decluttering and organizing needs belong to our closets. Do a clear-out and donate the clothes you never wear. A complete inventory for each family member: jackets, underwear, pants, shirts, and shorts! We love shoe organizers for our kid’s clothes to help keep things tidy. If you can’t see them, you likely won’t wear them! For more home organization, check out one of my previous blogs, All Things Organization, for my favorite tricks, tips, and items! Below, I added some pictures of my closet organization for inspiration 🙂 A clean home is the perfect canvas for welcoming the vibrancy of spring.
Refresh Your Decor
Welcome the season by refreshing your home decor. Swap out heavy winter textiles like blankets and curtains for lighter, brighter options. Incorporate fresh styles and pops of color through throw pillows and seasonal accents. Embrace natural materials such as rattan, wood, and linen to bring a touch of the outdoors inside. Consider new accent pieces or artwork to infuse your home with renewed vitality. One of my favorite spring home decor touches is playing with greenery, whether potted plants or fresh flowers; it is the perfect way to bring the outdoors inside! Prep Outdoor Spaces
To match your home’s clean and organized inside, you want to prepare your outdoor spaces for springtime enjoyment. I love the BISSELL Garage Pro Wall-Mounted Wet Dry Car Vacuum/Blower for handling everything in the garage; it makes things so easy! Then, it is key to pressure wash your home & exterior. The winter months will get dirty! Taking the time to do a quick wash and clean will prevent the accumulation of dirt. Maintaining these washes often will keep your home and exterior in tip-top shape and allow it to last longer. I highly recommend the Sun Joe SPX3000 14.5-Amp Electric High-Pressure Washer and the Kärcher – Universal Surface Cleaner 11″ Attachment for this.
Finally, the best part of prepping your home for spring is embracing the outdoor activities! The beauty of spring after spending most of the time indoors during winter is unbeatable. Create inviting outdoor living spaces where you can relax, entertain, and enjoy the fresh air. I added a picture of our patio space below from last year to share some ideas and our favorite pieces. I am looking forward to adding new colors and details this season!
With these tips in mind, you’ll be well-equipped to prep your home for spring and create the best spring environment for your family and you. A welcoming and rejuvenating space for a new season sounds like a great start. Take advantage of this season, whether gardening, hiking or simply lounging in the sunshine; make the most of this vibrant season. The opportunity to refresh and renew your space and let the beauty of spring inspire you will bring you new beginnings and possibilities for the season!
