Today, I’m diving back into my best social selling tips. Are you ready?
I love hearing your feedback on these so keep the DM’s an comments coming on my IG if you’re loving them!
I’m going to be covering a few key things to avoid on your Instagram feed and in IG stories.
𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. Social media is NOT the place for you to go vent and complain about what a crappy day (or night) you’ve had. Share those frustrations with a girlfriend, your mom, or your partner.
Remember, your goal is social selling! Meaning, you’re running a business. So think about how you would feel if every time you walked into your favorite store, all the employees were complaining all the time. Yikes!
𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞: there is a difference between occasionally sharing something difficult you are going through and complaining. Especially when you are coming from a place of vulnerability to connect with others. But when it’s every single day? Just stop. Most of us are going through crap of our own and come on social media to escape that.
𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭. If you can’t get your story across in just a few IG Stories slides (I’d recommend keeping it under 60 seconds so you don’t lose your audience) then maybe you should redo it.
Also, utilize captions in your stories! This is so, so important when it comes to social selling. Some audience members are hearing impaired and rely on captions. Also, it hold someone’s attention longer if they’re able to read while listening to you.
𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨𝐬. Your kids are cute, but not THAT cute. I know, the truth can be harsh. Send those videos to grandma and grandpa but don’t post every single one in your stories.
If you are social selling and treating your Instagram like a business or you want to be seen that way, then stop it with the at-home videos! For example, showing what little Johnny is eating for breakfast or what Sally is playing with that morning. Sorry, I know it stings but it needed to be said.
Remember,, your audience is there for YOU! Always think about how you can serve, inspire, educate, entertain and uplift your audience. Start posting from a place of adding value!
