This year, we are hosting my brother and his family for the 4th of July. Planning and hosting fun get-togethers has always been right up my alley. With the 4th of July being one of our favorite holidays over the years, we’ve tried to implement our traditions. We will buy fireworks, plan a BBQ with neighbors, family, and friends, and enjoy the summer night. The fireworks are obviously a hit for the kids; the dads are masters at the grill, and I personally love picking out my cute 4th of July outfit every year that screams, “I love America”! Could you think of a more perfect night?
THE DETAILS!!
I started decorating a little early for the 4th of July this year—adding tiny touches of red, white, and blue throughout the interior and exterior of our home. Living in the country, the easiest thing has been to shop on Amazon for different, all-American-inspired finds. It’s been my one-stop shop for everything from baby clothes (this romper is so cute!) to swimwear for the boys and decor. I did a roundup of some of my favorites here!
Everything about the 4th of July is so fun, especially planning fun outfits! Some may call it cheesy, but I call it fashionable because I am here for all the red, white, and blue. I have linked below a collage with some of my favorite outfits that I am sure you will love and can use for inspo 😉
OUR PLANS!!
How we structure our 4th of July BBQs is pretty simple…
- Invite everyone. Okay, I’m actually not joking—the more, the merrier—that is what makes these parties so awesome! This is so fun to make into a neighborhood block party and unite people for some great food and great memories. We try to invite family, friends, and neighbors so that everyone can experience such a fun holiday. If they can’t BBQ, oftentimes, people will still come out to watch the fireworks with you—it’s a free show!
- Set out yard games: bocci ball, spike ball, ladder ball, cornhole, etc! Even having a slack line somewhere for kids to walk on would be fun! We’re turning our backyard into a happening place with something fun for everyone to dive into. We set up several different stations of yard activities so no one is stuck sitting and being bored. Whether it’s getting competitive with the games or simply lounging around, there’s plenty to keep everyone engaged and making the most of our time together!
- Obviously we’re going to grill! Grilling meat, veggies… all of it! The more we can grill, the better (& less mess in the kitchen). You can grill and then add a couple of side salads – that’s it! Easy peasy! If you are hosting and grilling this year, you NEED these Rolling Grill Baskets; they make it easy to get all sides grilled and speed up the process through anything in them, from veggies to meat. Plus, this Hotdog Roller Grill tool is another one of our favorites!
- Fireworks are essential. Buy some sparklers and pop its for the kids. They’re a classic, and the kids will love them. For the big kids (adults), I always go to the firework tent stands and get a couple of the jumbo packs. That way, we have a variety for our show! I let Peter handle all the fireworks, and we made sure to soak them completely after their performance so they wouldn’t catch fire (Idaho is also a very dry state).
What makes a great 4th of July for you? Do you attend local parades? Go swimming? Put on your own fireworks show, or watch something the city puts on. I am ready for a 4th of July filled with laughter, delicious BBQ, sparkling fireworks, and exciting yard games. Gathering with loved ones and all of our friends will be the highlight of this holiday. All the products I mentioned above are necessities for the 4th of July to ensure your outfits look great and your party is rocking! If you want to see more products, check out my Fourth of July board on my Amazon storefront. It has everything you could think of! I wish everyone a happy 4th of July and cheers to creating lasting memories + celebrating America!
