Are you a social seller and feeling a little stuck in your business?
I need to be brutally honest here – these are things I constantly see other social sellers doing and it’s hurting their businesses. If you want to grow your business, make sure you aren’t making these common mistakes.
Stop the Generic Spam Posts
This is a common and honest mistake that I see happen all the time! It’s time to stop spamming your friends and family on social media! We don’t want to turn away our friends and family members, right? Make sure you don’t fill their news feeds with your product, your product, your product and generic reposts from other artists that spam their feeds.
Instead? Share other things you are passionate about – cooking, crafts, what do you enjoy? The reality is, ‘Posting and Praying” is not a business model. You’ll find yourself frustrated if you do that. Break it up, be social, and provide value!
Social media is an incredible tool and when you use it, you’ve got to post and slay! The best thing you can do as a seller is create your own content! Be a product of the product! Don’t just repost other top sellers in your company content and expect to great results. Share your own testimonials, tutorials, and results. When you go to post on social media, put your heart into it!
Find your own voice and stop censoring yourself because you might be afraid of what someone else thinks of you. If you’re looking for more ways to leverage social media, I share tips every Wednesday on my Instagram of how you can authentically grow and work your business.
Stop Comparing to Others Sellers
Don’t compare yourself, your team or your business to other sellers! Just don’t do it! Everyone is going to run their business differently and that’s okay. I’ve personally been caught up in the comparison trap before and it will suck the life out of you and our business will suffer.
You cannot let another’s success defeat or deflate you (or your success). If you work hard consistently, you’ll get a slice of the cake too. Take things one day at a time and don’t worry about what other sellers are doing.
Comparison is a thief joy and a mental trap! Not only that, but it’s also the thief of confidence! Stop comparing your outward appearance, your abilities, or your social media following to anyone else. You can’t let someone else’s beauty doubt your own beauty.
You are perfect just the way you are! If you have one follower on social media, you have a network, an influence, and a following. I truly believe you have everything you need to succeed if you just believe in yourself and do the work!
Our journey isn’t going to look the same – we all have different networks, personalities, talents and strengths. Have you ever heard the phrase, “Don’t compare your chapter 1 to her chapter 20“? You have your own set of unique gifts to use and share! That is one of the awesome things about this business!
Another’s success is not your failure. Your story and journey is going to be unique to you and so different it’s not worthy of the comparison. It’s time to put your head down, get to work and focus on what you can do.
Stop Doubting Yourself
Babe! If you believed in Santa Claus, you can believe in yourself. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard other sellers say “I can’t do what you do” or “I can’t do a Facebook Live video“. Don’t get stuck in the mindset that you can’t do this business, because you CAN! There may be bumps and failures in the road, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t fully capable of success.
I’ve had many failures and flops, but they all have helped me to grow and learn. When I hosted my very first in person “launch class” nobody showed up. I didn’t let that that stop me from continuing. I tried again and I let the experience fuel my fire to work harder. My failures and my commitment to my business are what has helped me become a top leader of 1,000 women and an Influencer Artist with Seint. If you fall down, dust your shoulders off, re-evaluate your strategy, and get back up.
Maybe you’re not doubting yourself but you’re feeling stuck. Start thinking outside of the box! What can you do now that is different from what you’ve been doing? Ask for support from your friends and family – they don’t always have to purchase product from you to show support! Sharing and referrals are huge! You can even ask for their help in engaging on your posts to help beat social media algorithms. If you don’t have support friends OR family – find some other sellers in your company that can help support you.
