𝗪𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: In this post, I talk about money, which may make you uncomfortable. You may also disagree with me, but that’s okay. Direct sales gals, this is for you!
I always was taught that “the love of money is the root of all evil.” Over and over again (not in my home but other places) I remember a very passionate teacher in my seminary class teaching this. Even as a teen, I wasn’t old enough to understand the principle of the message. My “takeaway” and what I understood was that money was evil. That even just wanting money was bad and evil and would be at the root of my sin.
I developed a FEAR of money.
Fear of making money. And fear of saving money. Fear of spending money. And also fear of losing and never having enough money. It was so ingrained in my mind that I lost the ability to trust myself handling money. Having money, in my mind = meant that I was more susceptible to being persuaded by the devil.
And this is a huge step for me to even share this, but I don’t believe that’s true. I refuse to let that belief cripple my actions and mindset like I allowed it to in the past. Especially as a working mom, direct sales person and team leader.
In reality, I have watched so many people use their success and money for 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝. Some of those people work alongside of me in my direct sales business and others I’ve met through other paths in life.
And you know what? Some of the most generously giving and inspiring people I know are the wealthiest 𝘈𝘕𝘋 the poorest financially. I actually don’t think it has anything to do with the money.
Now, I’m not saying it’s all figured out for me today. I’m still on that journey. But here today, here’s what I do believe: that God 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 us to live abundantly. I believe if we let Him in to our lives, He guides our path to opportunities all around us that can improve our circumstances. The action for the blessing though, relies on me. I believe that God has my back… so if I 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬, He puts out the path. I believe His blessings in my life don’t make me more or less of a “target” for Satan. That target is there, regardless of my financial situation.
I believe that where much is given, much is required.
And, I also believe there are opportunities all around us to give, serve, and bless others – some require monetary contributions, and some don’t. I believe God expects me to serve and help others, in any way I can.
Why do you think it’s so taboo to talk about money still? I want to hear from you, whether you’re in Seint, or follow me from some other way.
